As Technical Game Designer, you’ll lead and execute the Game Design of a whole new RPG: character & enemy skills, equipment and stats progression systems, balancing. You’ll work closely with the Game Director, the Game Designers and Level Designers. Your job is to make battles and progression system fun and tactical! We already have great tools and design ingredients to achieve this.

TASKS

- Refine the battle & progression systems and vision with the team. Work with the Producer to organize the scope within the production timeline.
- Create new skills for characters with Game Designers, establish skill trees, design and set up ennemies behaviors in engine, design and set up equipment stats and effects
- Be owner of the battle & progressions of the game. Supervise the Game Design team and collaborate efficiently with the Artists in order to deliver great skills and enemies, and consistent progression throughout the game.
- Support of the Game Design and Enviro team on various tasks to make Project W an outstanding RPG!

SKILLS

- You have a deep understanding of game design and what makes a turn-based RPG fun to play. You can establish a vision and clever game documentation, and guide the team towards it.
- You’re fluent with Unreal Engine blueprints. You will fully set up enemies behaviors or main char skills. For this, you’ll work closely with Gameplay Programmers, and use their help and skills.
- You love RPG stats and maths, and you’re already a master in damage formulas or weapon scaling.
- You have leading and communication skills, you can organize the work of a small team and act as “owner” of the game’s Battles and Progression system
- You love 3D RPGs, exploration or action games (if you like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest or Persona it's even better).

EXPERIENCE

- At least 3 years experience, including work on shipped titles.
- Experience with Unreal Engine
- Experience with Notion is a plus

PRACTICAL INFO

- You’re ideally willing to work in Montpellier, France. Sandfall offices are located near the city center, in a hub with 5 other companies, all working in entertainment! We’re also open to full remote positions.
- You need to be able to communicate in English, speaking French is a plus.
- Salary range depending on experience and position.
- Position starting in Autumn 2022.
